Tulum

This city earned the nickname “The City of Dawn” because it was named “Zama,” a Mayan word that means “Dawn,” and it was one of the largest and most impressive cities of the Maya civilization.

The Tulum Wall and the Temple of the Wind God

Tulum also means “wall,” and it is this wall that defines the large archaeological complex found here. It served as a barrier for access to anyone entering this area and also as the boundary of the main ceremonial complex of the city.

Within a group known as the Kukulkan Group, which encompasses several constructions in this geographic area and includes El Castillo, one of Tulum’s most iconic temples is also found: the Temple of the Wind God.

The entrance fee to the archaeological site is approximately 100 pesos (around €5 or $5.50).
